Support Workers
Behind the scenes, back at Aspire HQ, there’s a professional team of Support Workers who work to help our Employees get to where they want to be and to ensure that our service to our Clients is second to none.
The Support Team also keep in regular contact with employers to ensure everything is going smoothly and if there any areas where we can add more value.
In the journey from being in a situation of extreme disadvantage to one full of prospects and personal development, as you’d imagine, sometimes some bumps appear in the road. Our Support Workers are here to help people on that journey, when the bumps get a bit too big to manage alone.
The Support Team engage on a regular basis with all our employees. Some need no support and some, especially at the earlier stages, might need a bit more help. This might be in the form of offering advice on housing options and legal issues through to finding courses and CV writing.
However, where the Team really comes into its own is as a trusted source of advice and guidance. It’s the informal chats and the counselling over cups of tea where Support Workers make a real difference. Knowing how to help is much more about interpersonal skills than knowing the ins and outs of the benefits system.
The Support Team also regularly operate random drug and alcohol testing sessions. This is to ensure that Aspire’s zero tolerance to substance misuse is maintained.
Likewise, the Support Workers will look into all potential employees/trainees records and history. In particular, we have a partnership in place with Thames Valley Police which allows us to gain information on any offending history or police concerns.
