Welfare Fund Challenge 2018

Will you help us tackle poverty and homelessness in our community?

Aspire Oxford works with local people who have overcome real challenges in their lives. We know that by helping our clients find employment, we can break the cycles of homelessness, poverty and disadvantage – for good.

When our clients come to Aspire and start on their employment journey, they often have low confidence and serious barriers to overcome. Aspire’s Welfare Fund provides them with food vouchers, clothing, ID, household items and financial support for training courses, laptops or driving lessons.

Aspire’s Welfare Fund is a lifeline for our clients as they move closer to the world of work – and we need your help to reach a growing number of people!

tj.jpgAspire’s Welfare Fund in action - TJ’s story:

“I met Christine from Aspire in Bullingdon when I was coming to the end of my custodial sentence. Christine explained in detail what Aspire offers. When I was released I attended Aspire for a day’s trial, as arranged. I really enjoyed the trial day and signed myself up for the 20 days’ work experience/CSCS training run by Aspire.

As well as the work and training I’m receiving, I’ve also had support to get my provisional driving licence and completed three lots of the health & safety training. Then I signed up for many of the sports activities Aspire offers its trainees.

As I’ve progressed really quickly at Aspire I was sent out to work in one of the universities, which usually is reserved for trainees that have worked longer with Aspire and who have more experience. With the support I receive off all of the Aspire staff, I feel hopeful about my future.”

In August 2017 Terry was offered employment at University College, Oxford and Aspire has supported him to find secure housing, too. Aspire’s Welfare Fund made a huge difference in helping Terry to move into employment and change his life, for good.

Your support can help us make sure that more people like Terry can access the Welfare Fund on their journey into employment.

How you can help

We are looking for people to take on our Welfare Fund Challenge for 2018 and help us raise £15,000 – enough to support 58 of our clients who are vulnerable to homelessness and poverty.

You could make a donation, organise a fundraising event or take on a challenge. However you decide to support our Welfare Fund, every penny you raise will help vulnerable and disadvantaged people to build a brighter future. You can fundraise on your own, with friends or as part of a club, association, company or group.

To get started, email helen@aspireoxford.co.uk or call 01865 204450. We can provide loads of support, promotion and ideas – so please get in touch today!
